Seat selection

Due to aircraft configuration, window view of seats 34A, 34K, 36A and 36K on A330 services are not available.

 

Passengers traveling with children or infants under 12 years old in the same booking can select Window/Aisle/Middle seats for free via the Hong Kong Airlines mobile app, WeChat Mini Program, or mobile web version (mw.hkairlines.com) when booking tickets, managing “My Booking,” or online check-in. Only applicable to bookings made through the above channels.

 

From 25 November 2025 to 15 December 2025, passengers who purchase or travel with a Preferred Seat (Upfront) will be entitled to the following services:

  • Passengers who purchase a Preferred Seat (Upfront) on any route to or from Hong Kong will enjoy priority baggage service.
  • Passengers who purchase a Preferred Seat (Upfront) on flights departing Hong Kong will have access to priority check‑in counters.
  • Passengers who purchase a Preferred Seat (Upfront) on flights departing from Hong Kong to designated destinations (Canada, Australia, Shanghai, Tokyo) will be entitled to use the Hong Kong International Airport Courtesy Channel for security checks.

  • Passengers may select Preferred Seat (Window), Preferred Seat (Aisle) or Preferred Seat (Middle). Seats located towards the front of the cabin are also available for passengers who prefer earlier disembarkation.
  • Advance seat selection may be complimentary or charged, depending on cabin/fare type and frequent flyer tier.

  • For children under the age of 12, a seat will automatically be assigned next to the parent, guardian, or tutor's seat during online check-in. If children under the age of 14 are unable to secure a seat in close proximity to a parent, guardian, or tutor using hongkongairline.com or the mobile app, please contact the check-in counter staff for assistance.

  • 1.Preferred Seat (“Seat”) is subject to these Terms and Conditions. By purchasing the Seat, you shall be deemed to have read, understood and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions.

    2.The Seat is only available for purchase via Hong Kong Airlines ‘official website, Hong Kong Airlines ‘mobile application, WeChat Mini Program and Customer Service Centre.

    3.The Seat is only available for one-way and/or round-trip for selected economy class tickets for flights marketed and operated by Hong Kong Airlines only. Not available for the special flights, chartered flights, interline flights or code-share flights.

    4.The price of the Seat is based on individual sector for each passenger and subject to currency fluctuation.

    5.The Seat once purchased cannot be changed, non-reroutable, non-refundable and non-transferable under normal circumstances. In the event of re-booking, no-show and cancellation by the passenger, the fees will not be refunded.

    6.Refund is applicable for passenger who choose to pay for upsell to the higher cabin class voluntarily. Refund applications must be submitted to the Customer Service Centre within 90 days from the date of the scheduled departure time.

    7.The Seat is subject to availability and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The Seat availability is also subject to aircraft type. In the event of Hong Kong Airlines changes aircraft type due to operational reasons, we will endeavour to arrange an alternative seat in the same seat type selected for the passenger.

    8.The following passengers are entitled to select a seat free of charge, except for Preferred (Upfront) and Exit Row seats

    • Passenger who purchased “FlexiPlus” fare option;
    • Fortune Wings Club Platinum members and their maximum of 2 accompanying passengers in the same booking;
    • Fortune Wings Club Gold members and their maximum of 1 accompanying passenger in the same booking; and
    • Fortune Wings Club Silver members.
    • Passenger travel with children under 12 years of age in the same booking (Only applicable to bookings made through Hong Kong Airlines mobile app, WeChat Mini Program, or mobile web version (mw.hkairlines.com).

    9.Fortune Wings Club Platinum, Gold, and Silver members are entitled to reserve Preferred Seat (Upfront) free of charge.

    10.The Seat is not applicable for infant tickets and unaccompanied minor (children aged 6-12 who travel alone).

    11.Purchase of the Seat is not eligible for FWC points’accrual.Booking is not completed or accepted by Hong Kong Airlines until payment has been received, and a booking reference has been issued.

    13.Hong Kong Airlines will not be liable for any matter or loss in relation to any error or omission due to technical problems including but not limited to any computer or internet network issues.

    15.Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall confer any third-party rights or benefits.

    16.The Seat/air ticket with the Seat is subject to the General Conditions of Carriage published by Hong Kong Airlines (subject to change from time to time) and is available on Hong Kong Airlines’ website.

    17.Hong Kong Airlines reserves the right to amend the Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice.

    18.If there is any inconsistency or ambiguity between the English and other languages versions of the Terms and Conditions, the English version shall prevail.

    19.In the event of any dispute regarding any of the Terms and Conditions, the decision of Hong Kong Airlines shall be final.

    20.The Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

    1. Most of the Extra Legroom Seats are located next to the emergency exit doors, and this is subject to the flight safety guidelines set by the Civil Aviation Department of Hong Kong. Passengers must meet the following safety requirements and will not: obstruct emergency exits in a way of impeding the crew in their duties, obstruct access to emergency equipment, and hinder aircraft evacuation.
    2. In compliance with the flight safety guidelines of the Civil Aviation Authority, passenger assigned with the Extra Legroom Seat located at Exit row must: 
      1. Be at least 18 years of age on the date of travel;
      2. Not be seated with an infant;
      3. Be able to understand and follow the safety instructions;
      4. Not required of using extension seat belt (e.g pregnant passenger);
      5. Not be a passenger with reduced mobility :
        1. Using of mobility aid during boarding such as wheelchair, walking stick or postural support equipment (PSE);
        2. Either permanently or temporarily passenger with reduced mobility including vision and hearing-impaired;
        3. Require of medical assistance
    3. If a passenger does not meet the above safety requirements at the time of check-in, boarding or during the flight, Hong Kong Airlines may re-assign another seat with no refunds.
